Meet the Team - Noah van Dam

| Allgemein

How did you end up in Bocholt?

After 9 years in the dutch league I was ready for the next step, a new area and a new atmosphere. I July my former agent and contact from my time in orion contacted me. He knows Sven and because of this connection I get in contact with TuB Bocholt. They were looking for a new setter and I was looking for something new. So after a few good talks we came to an agreement.

Would you have expected such a good start of the season?

In the beginning I didn’t know anything of the league. Of course I watched some games of last season. But I didn’t know how good the players and teams will be. If I look back after preseason, I would expect that we could go for the top spots and that we will have a good season so far, because we are a really good team. It is such a shame that because of injuries couldn’t win the game in Warnemünde.

What can we expect from the game against schüttorf?

We can expect a lot of fighting spirit, that is one of our biggest strength, especially at home. We play always with the big crowd behind us, so I expect a good fight.

How is the communication with the team going?

Pretty good, my german is getting better and better every day. Luckily everyone is speaking English very well, that helps me a lot. My understanding in german is very good, but the talking is a bit less.

What is your goal for the season? (personally and with the team)

My goal for the season is to be a good failure for the team. What I mean is that people can count on me, in and outside the court. I like to have structure in my life and will focus on getting better every time, every game. We want go for one of the top spots. And I think we can go for a good result. Personally I want to be a better player, that the team can count on me as a setter, but also as as leader. As a setter you have to be one of the leaders, that is just how things go in Volleyball. And that I can say at the end of the season that I improved a lot.

Do you have any special pre game routines?

Coffee is my go to – I like to drink a coffee before the game. If it is possible a little break in the sun before the game and think about the game and drink a coffee.

What is already going well and what need to be improved?

I came here and we had 3 new players, so the core of the team is the same than last season. But if you change the setter, everything has to start over again. You have to create new connections with every player. It works already very well, but I think we can improve there. Now we will got for the finetuning, we want the connection to be perfect.
